Product Description

1.  Physical Properties
Appearance: It is a white crystalline powder or small white crystals.
Odor: It has a slight am monia-like smell.
Solubility: It is soluble in water, but its solubility increases with increasing temperature.

2.  Chemical Properties
Thermal Decomposition: When heated, ammonium bicarbonate decomposes easily. This property is often utilized in the food industry for leavening agents, as the release of carbon dioxide gas helps dough to rise.
Reaction with Acids: It reacts with acids to produce ammonium salts and carbon dioxide.  For example, when reacting with hydroch loric acid.

3. Storage and Safety
Storage: It should be stored in a cool, dry, and well - ventilated place, away from heat sources and acids, to prevent decomposition and chemical reactions.
Safety: When handling ammonium bicarbonate, proper ventilation is necessary due to the release of ammo nia gas during decomposition.  Direct contact with skin and eyes should be avoided, and appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.
