Heavy soda ash, also known as sodium carbonate, is the same chemical substance as light soda ash, only the physical form is different. It is also an important inorganic chemical product, the main ingredient is sodium carbonate, with high purity, generally around 99%, and a small amount of sodium chloride and sodium sulfate as impurities.
Appearance and state: It is usually in the form of white fine particles, compared with light soda ash, the particles are coarser and closely stacked. The shape of the particles is more regular, mostly round or nearly round, which makes it can be arranged more closely when stacked.
Density: Higher density, the general stacking density is around 1.0-1.1g/cm³, which is about twice that of heavy soda ash. This higher density makes the mass per unit volume of heavy soda ash larger.
Solubility: It is easily soluble in water, and the dissolution process in water is similar to that of light soda ash. Its aqueous solution is also alkaline. However, due to its large particles, under the same conditions, the dissolution speed may be slightly slower than that of light soda ash.
Hygroscopicity: It has a certain degree of hygroscopicity, and will absorb water in the air in a humid environment, but the caking phenomenon is not so obvious compared with light soda ash, because its particle structure is relatively close, and water is not easy to penetrate into the interior.
