Industrial products are often yellowish brown in color and contain about 40 to 50% magnesium chloride. They also contain impurities such as magnesium sulfate and chloride, and have a bitter taste. Easily soluble in water and ethanol, and easily deliquescent when the humidity is high. Thermal melt decomposition at 116~118ºC.
