In hard water, calcium and magnesium ions will form insoluble substances with surfactants in detergents, reducing detergency. By chelating these metal ions, low-molecular sodium silicate forms stable complexes, thereby preventing the failure of surfactants and enhancing the detergency of detergents.
In soap making, low-modulus sodium silicate can be used as a filler. It can fill the voids inside the soap, making the soap more compact and not easily broken.
