Industrial-grade polyaluminum chloride (PAC) is a kind of inorganic polymer coagulant. Its chemical formula is generally expressed as [Al2(OH)nCl6 - n]m (where n = 1-5, m ≤ 10). It is mainly composed of aluminum, chlori ne, and hydroxyl groups.
2. Physical Properties
Appearance: It usually appears as a yellow, light yellow, or brown-yellow powder or liquid. Solubility: It is soluble in water, and when dissolved, it forms a colloidal solution.
3. Production Process
It is produced through a series of chemical reactions. The main raw materials are bauxite, hydroch loric acid, and aluminum hydroxide. Through processes such as acidolysis, polymerization, and curing, industrial-grade PAC is obtained.
4. Advantages
It has a high coagulation efficiency, which means that a relatively small amount of PAC can achieve good water purification results. It has a wide range of applicable pH values, usually from 5 to 9, which makes it suitable for various water quality conditions. It generates less sludge compared with some traditional coagulants, reducing the cost of sludge disposal.
