Application
Fumed silica functions as an efficient reinforcing agent, capable of remarkably enhancing the physical and mechanical characteristics of rubber. By interacting with rubber molecular chains, it creates physical or chemical cross - linking sites. This interaction leads to an increase in the tensile strength, tear strength, and wear resistance of rubber.
In the production of tires, when fumed silica is added to rubber, the resulting tires exhibit improved puncture resistance and abrasion resistance. As a consequence, the service life of tires is extended, and their safety is enhanced.
Fumed silica, when incorporated into plastics, serves to enhance their strength, hardness, and toughness.
