As a weakly acidic salt, its aqueous solution is acidic, with a pH value of approximately 5.5. Ammonium sulfate has a high solubility in water, with a solubility of 70.6 g/100 mL at 0°C, 75.4 g/100 mL at 20°C, and 81 g/100 mL at 40°C. It is insoluble in alcohols . Additionally, it is hygroscopic and tends to form lumps.
