Chemical Formula: ZnCO₃. It exists in different polymorphs, with the most common being a white, fine - powdered solid in its commercial form.
Origin: It can be found in nature as the mineral smithsonite. However, for industrial and commercial uses, it is often synthesized through chemical reactions.

2. Physical and Chemical Properties
Appearance: Presents as a white, odorless powder. Its fine - grained texture makes it easy to handle and incorporate into various formulations.
Solubility: Insoluble in water. But it shows reactivity in acidic environments. When it comes into contact with acids, it undergoes a chemical reaction, releasing carbon dioxide gas. For example, with hydrochlori c acid (HCl), the reaction is: ZnCO₃ + 2HCl → ZnCl₂ + H₂O + CO₂↑
