Product Description
Precipitated silica is a common silica product. It is mainly prepared through a chemical reaction and precipitation process. Usually, an acid (such as sulfuric acid) is added to water glass (sodium silicate solution), so that the silicate ions combine with hydrogen ions to form silicic acid. Silicic acid is unstable and will undergo a polymerization reaction and then precipitate to form silica.

Application
Precipitated silica is an excellent paper filler. It can fill the gaps between paper fibers, increasing the opacity, whiteness, and smoothness of paper. At the same time, it can also improve the strength of paper, making it less likely to be damaged during printing and writing. In the production of cultural paper (such as paper for books and magazines) and packaging paper (such as paper for cartons and boxes), precipitated silica has extensive applications.
Fumed silica, serving as a potent reinforcing agent, is capable of remarkably enhancing the physical and mechanical attributes of rubber. By interacting with the molecular chains of rubber, it creates either physical or chemical cross-linking sites, which in turn bolster the tensile strength, tear resistance, and abrasion resistance of the rubber. In the production of tires, the incorporation of fumed silica into rubber results in tires possessing superior puncture-proof and anti-wear capabilities, thereby prolonging their service life and augmenting safety levels.
Adding fumed silica to plastics can improve the strength, hardness and toughness of plastics. For example, after adding fumed silica to engineering plastics such as polyamide (PA) and polycarbonate (PC), the tensile strength and flexural modulus of plastics can be significantly improved, enabling them to withstand greater external forces without deformation or damage.
