Poor thermal stability: easily decomposed by heat or moisture, decomposition begins above 36 °C, and can be completely decomposed at 60 °C to produce NH₃, carbon dioxide and water.
Hydrolysis: hydrolysis to NH₃ and carbonic acid, its aqueous solution is weakly alkaline.
