Description:Industrial - grade aluminium sulfate, with the chemical formula Al2(SO4)3, usually contains 14 to 18 water molecules of crystallization. The most common hydrate form is Al2(SO4)3·18H2O. In its pure state, it appears as a colorless, transparent block - like crystal or crystalline powder. But because of the existence of impurities, its color can be different, like gray - white, light - yellow, or light - green.
This substance has a high solubility in water, and its water solution is acidic. When it reacts with water through hydrolysis, a gelatinous precipitate of aluminium hydroxide is generated.
