Application
In the papermaking process, paper sizing is an important link. Magnesium chloride hexahydrate powder can be used as a sizing agent. It can react with cellulose in paper. After magnesium chloride hexahydrate powder is dissolved, magnesium ions will interact with hydroxyl groups (-OH) on cellulose molecules to form a structure with certain hydrophobicity. This structure can prevent rapid penetration of moisture in paper, thereby improving the water resistance of paper.
Magnesium chloride can react chemically with other components in the ceramic body, filling the pores of the body to a certain extent, making the ceramic structure more compact, thereby increasing the hardness and stability of ceramics and improving the quality and durability of ceramic products.
It can play a role in adjusting the pH value of the tanning solution. Because the tanning process has strict requirements for pH value, a suitable pH value range helps the tanning agent combine better with collagen in leather. Magnesium chloride solution is weakly acidic. Through proper proportioning, it can stabilize the acidity and alkalinity of the tanning solution and make the tanning reaction more sufficient and uniform.
