Application
It is used to manufacture sulfate pulp. It can react with lignin in the papermaking raw materials to help remove lignin, thereby improving the quality of paper.
In the textile printing and dyeing process, anhydrous sodium sulfate plays a key role as a dye accelerator. For direct dyes, reactive dyes, etc., it can reduce the solubility of dyes in the dye solution, making it easier for dye molecules to transfer from the dye solution to the surface of fabric fibers and penetrate into the interior of the fibers. This further increases the adsorption amount and fixation rate of dyes on the fabric, enhances the depth and uniformity of dyeing, makes the fabric color more vivid and firm, and improves the dyeing effect and quality.
It is used as a fining agent. During the glass - melting process, it can decompose to produce gases, and these gases can take away the bubbles in the glass liquid, making the glass more transparent and uniform.
In chemical production, the process of preparing sodium sulfide with sodium sulfate (Glauber's salt) as raw material is relatively common. By heating and reacting a mixture of sodium sulfate and coke in a high-temperature furnace, sodium sulfide product can be obtained. This product is widely used in fields such as leather tanning and printing and dyeing auxiliaries.
