Application
Magnesia (the main component is magnesium oxide) has a large specific surface area, and its particle surface can adsorb some impurities in water. For example, for heavy metal ions and organic pollutants in water, magnesia particles can adsorb these pollutants on their surface through physical adsorption. This is because there are some active sites on the surface of magnesia that can generate adsorption forces such as van der Waals forces between pollutant molecules.
In the lining of copper smelting reverberatory furnaces, heavy burned magnesia bricks are widely used. These magnesia bricks can resist the erosion of copper molten liquid and slag and ensure the smooth progress of the smelting process. At the same time, in the lining part of aluminum electrolytic cells, appropriate use of heavy burned magnesia can improve the corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance of the lining, prolong the service life of the electrolytic cell, and thus improve the efficiency and economy of non-ferrous metal smelting.
In the cylinder part of the cement rotary kiln, refractory bricks made of heavy-burned magnesia are usually used as linings. These refractory bricks can effectively protect the kiln cylinder, reduce heat loss, and improve the thermal efficiency in the cement production process. At the same time, they can maintain good performance in a long-term high-temperature and wear environment, reducing the maintenance frequency and cost of the cement rotary kiln.
