Properties

• In industry: It is used in metal processing as a flux to remove oxide films from metal surfaces, helping to improve the adhesion of coatings and solders. It is also used in the production of dry cell batteries, acting as an electrolyte to facilitate the flow of electric current.
• In food industry: It is used as a food additive, mainly as a leavening agent and a flavoring agent. In some baked goods, it can react with other ingredients to produce carbon dioxide gas, which helps the dough to rise and become porous.
