Product Description
These are colorless and transparent monoclinic crystals that can also take the form of a colorless or white crystalline powder. They are odorless, impart a slightly cool sensation, and have a bitter taste. Their density ranges approximately from 1.667 to 1.729 g/cm³. The pentahydrate has a melting point of 48 °C and, upon melting, it dissolves in its own crystal water. It readily dissolves in water, with the resulting aqueous solution being weakly alkaline. It shows no solubility in alcohol. When placed in dry air above 33 °C, it will effloresce and shed its crystal water, while in humid air, it is prone to deliquescence.
