Physical and chemical properties
1.Appearance: White or slightly yellow crystalline powder or particles, easily hygroscopic, prone to clumping and deliquescence in humid air.
2.Melting point: Twelve hydrate will lose its crystalline water and transform into anhydrous trisodium phosphate at 73.4 ºC. The melting point of anhydrous trisodium phosphate is about 1340 ºC.
3.Density: The relative density of trisodium phosphate dodecahydrate is 1.62, and the relative density of anhydrous trisodium phosphate is about 2.536.
4.Solubility: It is easily soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is strongly alkaline. The pH value of a 1% aqueous solution is about 11.5-12.1, and it is insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and carbon disulfide.
