Application
In tap water treatment or industrial circulating water systems, there may be residual in the water. Residual can cause damage to aquatic organisms and some water-using equipment. Sodium sulfite can effectively remove residual.
In the pulping process of the paper industry, sodium sulfite is a commonly used cooking additive. In chemical pulping methods, especially in the sulfate process and sulfite process, sodium sulfite participates in the reaction. It can chemically react with lignin to separate lignin from plant fibers, thereby obtaining cellulose pulp with a relatively high purity.
Sodium sulfite can also prevent printed and dyed fabrics from oxidizing and changing color during subsequent processing or storage. Fabrics are easily exposed to oxygen in the air and undergo oxidation reactions, leading to color fading or discoloration. As an antioxidant, sodium sulfite can react with oxygen and consume oxygen, thereby protecting the color of fabrics.
