1. Physical properties

Appearance: It is usually a non-toxic and odorless white flocculent powder, but there are also white or slightly yellow fibrous powders or particles.

Solubility: Easily soluble in water, the solution exhibits high viscosity when neutral or alkaline. Its solubility is affected by the degree of substitution, and the higher the degree of substitution, the better the solubility. Insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol.

Stability: It exhibits good stability under certain temperature, pH, and other conditions, but may undergo degradation and other changes under strong acid, strong alkali, and other conditions.

2. Chemical properties

Substitution degree: Substitution degree (DS) refers to the degree to which carboxymethyl groups replace hydroxyl groups on cellulose molecular chains, and different applications have different requirements for substitution degree.
