In the textile printing and dyeing industry, sodium metabisulfite is a commonly used bleaching agent. For natural fiber fabrics such as cotton, linen, and silk, as well as some chemical fiber fabrics, it can remove natural pigments and impurities on the fabric through reduction, making the fabric white. During the bleaching process, sodium metabisulfite can reduce colored substances on the fabric to colorless or light-colored compounds, thereby achieving the bleaching effect.
