Fumed silica, also known as fumed silica, is an amorphous nanoscale silica obtained by hydrolysis of halosilane at high temperature in an oxyhydrogen flame. In the process of production, halosilane is rapidly hydrolyzed and polycondensation occurs in the mixture of hydrogen and O2 burned at high temperature to form very fine silica particles. These particles are extremely small in size, usually between 7-40 nm, and have significant characteristics such as large specific surface area, high surface activity, and good dispersion. The appearance of fumed silica is white fluffy powder, and the primary particles attract each other with weak van der Waals forces to form a three-dimensional chain structure of aggregates. Its chemical properties are stable, high purity, does not react with most acids and bases under normal conditions, and is a nanomaterial with excellent performance.
