Product Description

1. Chemical Information
Name and Formula: Sodium silicate, also known as water glass, has the chemical formula Na2SiO3. There are also various hydrated forms, such as Na2SiO3.5H2O.
Composition: It consists of sodium ions Na+ and silicate anions, which are held together by ionic bonds. 

2. Physical Properties 
Appearance: In solid form, it is usually a white powder or granular solid. When dissolved in water, it forms a viscous, colorless or slightly yellowish liquid.
Solubility: It is highly soluble in water, and the solubility may vary depending on the degree of hydration and the temperature. 

3. Production Methods
Fusion Method: Sodium carbonate Na2CO3 and silica SiO2 are heated at high temperatures in a furnace.
Hydrothermal Method: Reacting sodium hy droxide NaOH with silica in an aqueous solution under certain temperature and pressure conditions to produce sodium silicate.

5. Safety Considerations
Sodium silicate solutions are alkaline. Direct contact with skin or eyes can cause irritation. In case of contact, immediate flushing with plenty of water is required.
