Polyacrylamide is an important oilfield chemical, but it has poor shear stability and severe mechanical degradation during pumping. Poor salt resistance and prone to precipitation; Poor resistance to high temperatures and acids. Therefore, the modification of polyacrylamide has become a research hotspot in the petroleum field. Research has found that AMPS has a very obvious effect as a modified monomer. AMPS is made into ternary copolymers with methacrylic acid and acrylamide, which are used as admixtures for cementing cement. They can play a role in high-temperature retarding and can be used in high-temperature and high-salt environments. The copolymer with N, N-dimethylacrylamide can be used as a water loss agent for oil well cement mud. The graft copolymer with calcium lignosulfonate and acrylamide is an excellent cement dispersant, early strength agent and enhancer. Graft copolymerization of AMPS with acrylic acid, tetrahydrobenzoic acid, lignosulfonic acid, etc. can be used to prepare drilling fluid dispersants and stabilizers with good calcium resistance, viscosity reducers, fluid loss reducers, etc. Block copolymers of AMPS and N-vinylpyrrolidone, as tackifiers for tertiary oil recovery, do not degrade when used under high temperature, high pressure and high shear conditions, and have good stability. At present, AMPS, as an effective modified monomer, has permeated various fields of polymer modification in oilfield chemicals, effectively solving the three intractable problems of salt resistance, high-temperature resistance and shear resistance in oil production polymers. The largest market for AMPS in China is tertiary oil recovery in oil fields, used as drilling fluids, completion fluids and fracturing fluids, etc.
