Appearance: White, granular or powdery crystalline solid.
Odor: Odorless.
Density: Approximately 2.43 g/cm³.
Melting Point: 891 °C.
Solubility: Highly soluble in water, forming a strongly alkaline solution (pH ~11.6). Insoluble in ethanol, acetone, and other common organic solvents.
Hygroscopicity: Highly hygroscopic. Readily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide from air, leading to caking and potential partial conversion to potassium bicarbonate (KHCO3).
Stability: Stable under normal temperatures and pressures. Thermally stable at high temperatures.
Packaging: Typically double-packed.
Inner layer: Polyethylene plastic bag, sealed for moisture protection.
Outer layer: Woven polypropylene bag, kraft paper bag, or laminated woven bag.
