Description:Slaked lime, whose chemical name is calcium hydroxide, has the chemical formula Ca(OH)2. As an ionic compound, it consists of calcium ions and hydroxide ions. It is a white powdery solid at room temperature, with no obvious odor, and slightly soluble in water (solubility is about 0.17g/100mL at 20ºC). Its aqueous solution is called "lime water", and the saturated solution is weakly alkaline (pH is about 12.4); when left, it easily reacts with carbon dioxide in the air to form calcium carbonate, leading to deterioration.
