Magnesium sulfate/magnesium sulphat can be used for leather, explosives, paper, porcelain, fertilizer. Mineral water additive. Magnesium sulfate is used in agriculture as a fertilizer because magnesium is one of the main components of chlorophyll. It is commonly used in potted plants or on magnesium-deficient crops, such as tomatoes, potatoes, roses, etc. Magnesium sulfate has the advantage of higher solubility than other fertilizers. (I) Physical Properties
Monohydrate magnesium sulfate is a colorless monoclinic crystal, characterized by high purity and stability. It has a molecular weight of 138.38, a density of 2.57 g/mL at 25°C, and a melting point of 150°C (decomposition). Its solubility in water varies significantly with temperature: at 67.5°C, the solubility is 37.1%; at 170°C, it is 8%; and at 240°C, it is only 0.5%. These properties enable it to be flexibly used in various application scenarios according to temperature conditions.
(II) Chemical Properties
Monohydrate magnesium sulfate is a neutral salt with relatively stable chemical properties. When dissolved in water, it releases magnesium ions (Mg²+) and sulfate ions (SO4²-), which play important roles in a variety of chemical reactions. For example, magnesium ions act as activators for many enzymes in living organisms, while sulfate ions can be used in precipitation reactions.
